A Little vulgar at times, but to be honest with you, the outtakes at the films closing credits made me laugh more than the movie.
But I did enjoy it, love Melissa. If I could give it a minus star I would. This is the worst movie that I have ever seen. I thought that I had seen some rotten movies before but this one takes the cake.

Both McCarthy and Bell are incredibly funny and have good comedic chemistry. Yet while The Boss is a fairly rote comedy, it's entertaining and delivers a lot of laughs.

Like I said. There are scenes that are terrific and others that are hilarious. But sometimes the humor was meh and the plot line was tired.
Melissa McCarthy rocked the crazy character she brought to life, but she does that and you get exactly what you expect. Kristen Bell was my favorite playing the straight man most of the time with a few great moments to shine.
I'm sure they had loads of fun working together because the chemistry felt great. Bottom line. Way too much for family viewing and not quite clever or multidimensional characterization to make it a must see for adults.
Two pre-requisites to really enjoy this film is having had a kid in Girl Scouts and liking Melissa McCarthy.
If you check those two boxes then this movie is a fun ride. Those two points aside it's probably 2. Simply put, if cursing around kids makes a fun combination for you, then you're in.
If not, then go watch Finding Nemo. The mocking of the Girl Scouts is not only enjoyable -- it friggin' makes perfect sense!

Because, duh, Melissa McCarthy. She's, in my opinion, the Lucille Ball of this millennium. With only a pop and a fizzle here and there, I was left wanting.
The flick just simply lacked substance. The plot was all over the place. Although I was able to follow, I kept thinking that this had to have been written by someone who needed to gather their ducks and put them in a row - then chase the cats and put them back in the bag.
Yes, it was that flighty. For me, it just wasn't a well put together movie. Yes, there were comedic moments If I could've given two and a half stars, I would have.
I'm afraid the only flame of hope this Phoenix had was that which comes from the beautiful and talented Melissa McCarthy. She's the only reason I finished the movie.
I really looked forward to Melissa McCarthy's newest movie but this just didn't go tere for me. She's awesome but the previews gave away most of the fun and novelty of the film by the time I viewed it.
A lot of the scripted humor and jokes just fell flat or were just not inventive enough. Not even Melissa McCarthy could probably save the script's faults and the trite nature of the film.

She doesn't always succeed in this film, and the movie as a whole doesn't hang together as well as it should. Still, I enjoyed watching it, and there are very, very few movies out of Hollywood that allow a female villain to be redeemed at all, let alone by female friendship rather than the love of a man.
It also shows female mentorship--four generations, with Kathy Bates in a great cameo--another Hollywood rarity. For those elements alone I forgive it a lot.
